In my family we get at least one new ornament every year. We try to find something that represents an event or trend during the year (ie new baby, vacations). When the next Christmas comes it is like opening a scrapbook as we get all the ornaments out! I LOVE this tradition! I think it will be even more fun as my 2 kids grow up and we can see what they were into when they were little!

Re: Ornaments new & old
That's really sweet! It'll get more and more interesting as the years go by.
Me and my Husband were thinking of doing something similar. We were going to make an album called our Christmas Album and add a new picture of us at Christmas every year. By year 25 we could have pictures of us and our children. By year 50 it could be us and our grandchildren.

I think both traditions will seem more interesting if the couple has kids. I don't really plan to have any, but I think i'm going to start the photo book just incase. Lol.

Both of those ideas do certainly sound good. If you don't plan on having kids and want to do the album one, maybe you could have pictures of your friends and family instead? Like older generations rather than younger? Or nieces and nephews?

That's a good idea. My Husband has a two year old neice so it'd be nice to do a photo with her every now and then to see her grow.

You don't have to have kids!!
My Husband and I had 5 Christmases before we had kids. We would get ornaments from vacation spots, new pets, and just fun ornaments like sport teams and childhood toys.
I also scrapbook so I made one 12x12 scrapbook with just our Christmas pics. We take a picture every year of the tree and the outdoor lights on the house at night. Then I add pics from our parties, Christmas day, pets in the paper, and the kids.
For a gift my sister-in-law and I made a book of all our Christmases from years past (my parents take pics then put them in a big box in the closet!!) It was a chore but we have half of it done! My parents love it and put it out on the table each year.

Re: Ornaments new & old
I like making scrapbooks as well. I don't do them very often though as I tend to be too busy with other things to have time to scrapbook most of the time.
A book of all your past christmases sounds like a good idea. It sounds like it would be a very well recieved present!

Re: Ornaments new & old
I do but not in your area probably
The places I'd go to would be:
Sew Simple
Roys
The Original Factory Shop
Pedlar's Gold
But none of those are nation wide shops though
Tesco sells scrapbooks, although I'm not sure on the prices.

Re: Ornaments new & old
I think i'm going to make one in secret and once i've built it up to like, 25 years i'll give it to someone as a present. Will be hard doing it for that long though!

Re: Ornaments new & old
Haha 25 years is perhaps a little long. You could just collect things for the scrapbook for 25 years and then make it?

Re: Ornaments new & old
Yeah you're right, the scrapbook would probably get damaged and scruffy. I'll just have to remember to take pictures every christmas and save memorabilia.
